Welcome to our staff page. Meet us here, it's a people thing...

For starters... meet the new owners Michael Jude and Joe DiSalvo. Michael ran a music store back east and has played bass and guitar in pro bands for years. He's a great guy and one of the workingest musicians around. Joe has a strong interest in guitars and plans to be involved also with the vintage trade.

Sandy Munro owned and operated The Great Divide from 1977 - 2007. His primary focus is acoustic instruments... with a strong interest in Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Celtic music. He will be in the shop two days a week teaching and helping mind the store.

Teaching has been a significant part of The Great Divide's place in the community. In addition to local lessons, Sandy is a long term member of the teaching staff at The RockyGrass Academy and before that, the Telluride Bluegrass Academy. His "Bluegrass, Old-Time, Celtic Music" class has been offered, on and off for the past 20 years at Colorado Mountain College.

Sandy has been running the shop and teaching guitar, banjo, mandolin and fiddle as well as performing in Bluegrass, Swing, and Celtic bands since the mid-sixties. Sandy currently plays mandolin/fiddle with the Crowlin Ferlies and sings and plays mandolin/guitar with The Flying Dog Bluegrass Band.

Prior to his Great Divide days, Sandy taught physics, math, aviation, and bluegrass at Aspen High School and was a Navy pilot before that. He's originally from Hyattsville, Maryland.... famous for the recording of "The Kitchen Tapes."

Sandy has been married to Mary Lynn Munro forever. She's a fine bass player, Celtic piano accompaniest, and glass artist. For some nice stuff, check out her webpage, it's called Crystal Lynn Glassworks.

Paul Buechler joined the team here at the Great Divide two and a half years ago. He's an accomplished guitarist... jazz, rock, and classical, and is generally overqualified for his position. He has a Masters in Music from Yale, and attended Berklee School of Music in Boston. He's also been performing in the Aspen area for a number of years and knows how to make grown-up chords.

Paul is also the head of the CD/DVD department, which has become an active part of The Great Divide the last two years. He's been adding a lot of nice titles to our CD selection... so check it out.

Kory Krahl has moved from the sales floor full time to the repair shop. He's become a first rate repairman, and the amount of work coming in has necessitated this change. Kory's a soulful guy who keeps a pretty busy schedule between building, repairing, and playing in the Lone Pine Bluegrass Band and The Crowlin Ferlies. He plays fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and celtic banjo. He's originally from Kansas City.

Kory has recently been qualified as a Certified Martin Guitar Repairman, and does fine work on mandolins and fiddles. Drop by in the afternoon to catch Kory and Sandy catching up on fiddle/mandolin tunes.

It's so nice to have a girl in the house. Julie Lampton is a long time friend and student, and the lastest Great Divide addition. I think you can see that she perks up the place a little. We evidently needed it. Julie is studying her vintage guitar books, learning the ropes, and keeping us guys in line. Meanwhile she's working on her flatpicking tunes. Also it's no fun hugging Paul and Kory.

Once again we're happy to be an Authorized Fender Electronic Service Center. Sheldon Fingerman, long-time Aspenite and protege of our former repairman has taken on the job. He learned about guitar amps working with Bill (Humptone) Humphreys, and has the same curious nature that made Bill a good tech.

Sheldon is a man of many talents, and you're welcome to visit his website to see what else he has going on.
