Blazer Henkes - Deja Vu This instrument is one of the most formidable sounding acoustic instruments to come our way. It was built by Rudolph Blazer and Wilhelm Henkes, of Antique Acoustics, German luthiers world famous for their craftsmanship and attention to detail. "Willi" regularly works on top vintage instruments for collectors worldwide, and with Rudolph has made this instrument as a tribute to the Larson Brothers guitars which were well known innovative instruments from the Chicago area in the 1930s. The photos tell the story, and the body shape may have served as a model for the J-200. Antique Acoustics is currently building us our first "Great Divide OM". It will be built in the pre-war style in Brazilian Rosewood with our "Troubadour" logo in pearl and abalone on the peghead. Look for it later this winter. Above is the "Maurer" style fingerboard inlay, done by Henkes in tribute to the Larson Brothers. Later Stu Mossman would use this pattern in his top of the line Golden Era models. It was actually conceived by Maurer Music in Chicago. The Maurer namebrand was purchased by represented the Larson Brothers in 1900. A superlative instrument. feel free to email us right here
Note here, if you can see it that the top is aged to produce "twan wen" as would be found in a 30s Larson. For an interesting ride, look up "twan wen" in google.com and enter the world of ancient Chinese lacquer secrets.
